More Garden Plans

I have a post up on Garden Planning over at Lost in the Cosmos. I've included how the boys got involved in planning their own little patches of dirt if you'd like to check it out.

Still very busy in the garden, but not too busy to share gratuitous cute baby photos taken by a dear friend. She's a gifted photographer, and I begged her to take some photos while this bruiser's head and face were unmarred! This little monkey LOVES his watermelon!

So polite saying "thank you" for the melon!

I just started a new blog to journal our foray into gardening. Putting in a large kitchen garden as well as tackling the extensive and overgrown landscaping we inherited from the garden-loving former owner of our home has kept us busy! I will still attempt to cross-post here about some of our escapades, but I feel the nitty-gritty deserves its own home. Of course, my last attempt at a separate blog journal sort of went phooey. But please take a visit and wish me better luck in this new venture!

Busy Baby

"Timmy was a great disappointment to [Miss Merryvale]. She had always thought of babies as pink, cuddly things with blue eyes as they are depicted on magazine covers. Timmy shattered this illusion.

Far from being pink and cuddly, he was seldom clean, unless just after a bath, and always averse to any form of affection.

Besides, he had a cold of which he took no notice whatever, only objecting strenuously when a charitable person tried to blow his nose.

He had an enormous appetite and left traces of every meal on his suits and bibs, if not in his hair. And he was happiest when he could pull some valuable bit of furniture to pieces. He reminded Miss Merryvale irresistibly of an animal at the zoo..."

Moley Speaks

Moley is 3

The beanbag book is up there!

Up here? I say trying to be helpful.

Yeah, the beanbag book.

Which book is that?

The BEANBAG book.

I don't know what the beanbag book is.

The one that has beanbags.

{That clears things up.}

Wracking my brain, It has beanbags??

Yeah. And sausage. It has sausage in it. It's so funny.

{You know mom, the funny one with beanbags and sausage???}

At this point I just start holding up random books from that shelf  until he says,

 That's it!!!

So, if you were looking for a funny children's science book with sausage and beanbags, here you go.

Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real

round button chicken

I don't think that there is much that is prettier than a bowl of fruit. I like flowers, but there is something about displayed fruit being both beautiful and utilitarian that appeals to me. I think perhaps it comes of years of making do with little storage space.

Not the sight I was expecting when I went outside to check the little ones' progress on their pomanders.

Yes, I really did have a birthday this week, my husband really made it one of the best birthdays ever, he bought me that lovely jacket, and he did in fact make me a tasty cake that really looked an awful lot like a Mayan calendar.

Maybe the world really is ending in 2012 and this is the most fitting cake ever?
